Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport reports that they will welcome China Airlines flights to Bali for the first time in 2 years. China Airlines reportedly landed in Bali this week. This is certainly very positive news considering that tourists from China are one of the tourists with the largest contribution to the world of tourism and tourism business in Bali. Because of this, this arrival can be a good thing for both parties in the future.
This news was confirmed by the General Manager of PT. Angkasa Pura I Ngurah Rai Airport, Handy Heryudhitiawan. Heryudhitiawan informed that China Airlines has been added to the flight schedule at Ngurah Rai Airport, after a long time the airline was suspended at the beginning of the pandemic.
China Airlines flights will be scheduled twice a week every Tuesday and Friday, with a Taipei to Denpasar flight route. However, this flight requires a transit in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore or Jakarta beforehand.
“Yes, hopefully this will be a breath of fresh air in increasing visits. Especially in the past, China was number one,” Heryudhitiawan told local reporters. This is a reminder that although tourists from Australia have long been the most visited tourists in Bali, tourists from China have also increased drastically before the pandemic.
The Stakeholder Relations Manager of PT Angkasa Pura II Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Taufan Yudhistira, spoke with reporters to share updates about Bali Airport’s current flight offering. He said that as of August 2022, 23 airlines are serving 22 international routes from 12 countries from Ngurah Rai International.
He compared this to the operation before the pandemic, where there were 35 airlines offering direct flights to Denpasar. There are 12 airlines that have yet to return to the tarmac, and it is hoped that plans will fall into place to reopen the remaining schedules soon.
The resumption of the China Airlines service to Denpasar comes just days after the Chinese Ambassador to ASEAN Countries, HE Deng Xijun, met with Bali Governor Wayan Koster. The pair discussed the future of tourism, education, and the upcoming G20 Summit in November.
