Government Employment Insurance – BPJS Ketenagakerjaan

BPJS Ketenagakerjaan is a public legal entity responsible to the President to provide protection to all Indonesian workers, whether in the formal or informal sector and have the status of Indonesian citizens (WNI) or foreigners (provided that they have worked in Indonesia for at least 6 months).

BPJS Employment is a health insurance program by the government in an effort to provide socio-economic protection to the community, especially workers in the work environment. Work Accident Insurance will provide protection for the risk of accidents that occur in an employment relationship, namely Work Accident Insurance (JKK), Death Insurance (JK), Old Age Security (JHT), Pension Security (JP), and the latest is Job Loss Insurance (JKP).


Government Employment Insurance– Company

Every company is required to register its employees as members of BPJS Employment. The company’s BPJS Health does not only apply to the formal sector, but also to informal workers.

BPJS Health participants registered by the company must pay the calculated monthly contribution. The calculation for the payment of the contribution will be partly deducted from the employee’s salary and partly will be paid by the company. The amount of contributions for BPJS Employment is adjusted to the facilities of each BPJS Employment program, namely:

The calculation for the premium payment is adjusted to the salary received by the employee. To make it easier, the following is a simulation of the costs borne by the company and the employer with a salary of IDR 3 million with the work risk being at a low-risk level.

Sanctions if the Company does not register Government Employment Insurance

  1. Subject to administrative sanctions, which include written warnings, fines, and/or not receiving certain public services.
  2. Revocation of business license, prohibition of hiring foreign workers, revocation of IMB.
