The Deadline For Filing Tax Returns is Extended Until 30 April 2020

Along with the temporary closure of direct (face-to-face) services to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus, the Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) extended the deadline for paying taxes and reporting annual tax returns for individual taxpayers.

In its official statement, the DGT states that the deadline for annual SPT reporting has been extended from March 31, 2020, to April 30, 2020. This is to provide tax facilities and certainty to individual taxpayers.

“The relaxation of reporting and payment deadlines is given until 30 April 2020 without being subject to sanctions for being late,” said DGT, Sunday (3/15/2020).

Meanwhile, for the tax return, period tax deduction/collection of the February 2020 tax period, the DGT provides relaxation of the reporting deadline up to 30 April 2020 without being subject to sanctions for the delay. However, the time limit for incentives remains in accordance with applicable regulations.

As is known, in accordance with article 7 paragraph (1) of the Law (UU) General Provisions and Tax Procedures (KUP), the submission of late tax returns will be subject to administrative sanctions in the form of fines. This is in the interests of orderly administration and increasing taxpayer compliance.

For annual income tax returns for individuals, a fine of Rp 100,000 is charged. For annual corporate income tax returns are subject to Rp1 million. The rest, there are tax returns for value-added tax (VAT) and other period tax returns, each of which contains a fine of Rp500,000 and Rp100,000 if submitted late.
