The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Wishnutama Kusubandio welcomed the plan to open nature tourism so that it was be expected could move the economy of the community back, especially in the tourism sector.
Wishnutama Kusubandio at a press conference with the Chair of the COVID-19 Handling Acceleration Task Force Doni Monardo and The Ministry of Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya Bakar in the BNPB office, Monday (22/6/2020) said, many tourism sectors’ subjects await this policy because over the past three months it has been severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The health protocol for the tourism sector and creative economy prepared and proposed by Tourism and Creative Agency has been approved through The Minister of Health Decree Number HK.01.07 / Menkes / 382/2020 concerning Health Protocol for Communities in Public Places and Facilities in the Framework of Prevention and Control of Corona Virus Disease 2019 ( COVID-19).
This health protocol is expected to be a reference for all parties in planning the opening of tourism, including nature tourism. He appreciated the support of the COVID-19 Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling and the Ministry of Environment and Forestry in planning the opening of nature tourism.
Kind of Tourism to be Opened
The nature tourism area which is planned to be opened step by step consists of marine tourism areas, water conservation areas, adventure tourism areas, national parks, nature tourism parks, grand forest parks, wildlife reserves, and geoparks. In addition, non-conservation nature tourism includes botanical gardens, zoos, safari parks, tourist villages, and nature tourism areas that are managed by the community.
In the meanwhile, The Ministry of Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya Bakar said, based on the work of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry along with local governments in the field through the Ministry’s technical implementation unit, there were recorded 29 national parks and natural tourism parks which could gradually be opened from projections current time is until mid-July 2020.
“Some national parks that we will open such as Mt. Gede Pangrango, Bromo Tengger Semeru and or Rinjani,” said Siti Nurbaya.
Afterward, several other locations will also be opened by phase. Among them are in DKI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java, East Kalimantan, NTB, NTT, South Sulawesi, South Sumatra, also Bali.
The Chief of Task Force for the Acceleration of the COVID-19 Handling Doni Monardo said the natural tourism area could be gradually opened up to a maximum visitor limit of 50 percent of current normal capacity.
The decision making will go through a process of deliberation with the Regional Leaders Communication Forum involving managers of regional natural tourism, the Regional Indonesian Doctors Association, epidemiologists, public health experts, community economists, religious leaders, cultural leaders, community leaders, press figures, conservationists, the business world especially the tourism industry, as well as the DPRD through the community-based Penta helix collaboration approach.
