The Indonesian government has begun aggressively seeking ways to make the licensing process in Indonesia easier so as not to use investment. President Jokowi through the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) has given permission so that full licensing authority will be at BKPM, specifically related to easy business licenses in Indonesia.
As an objective, it is intended to improve Indonesia’s ranking in the World Bank business index and also improve Indonesia’s ranking in the ease of doing business which is the duty of BKPM.
In addition, President Jokowi has instructed to revoke around 40 ministerial regulations governing investment in December. Also, this is the reason why business in Indonesia is difficult to question the overlapping rules between ministries and government institutions.
On the basis of these things, the Indonesian government uses the Online Single Submission (OSS) system to facilitate licensing procedures at all levels of government. With the OSS system, investors are made easy in terms of getting a business registration number in just three hours. However, for approval of business activities, investors must still obtain permission from the ministry, other government agencies.
The government wishes that in the future, all forms of licensing and business in Indonesia will be centered on BKPM to facilitate all licensing and business processes.
