Government officials have stated that Bali Ngurah Rai International Airport will begin simulation steps before operating the international terminal. The government is in communication with five countries regarding the potential of a travel bubble.
MINISTER OF TOURISM IN INDONESIA
Indonesian Tourism Minister Sandiaga Uno said the program was initiated as part of the preparation stage to reopen international flights in Ngurah Rai Airport.
“We will keep on simulating and doing trials as a new procedure to operate the international terminal of Ngurah Rai airport before receiving the influx of international visitors in June or July this year,” Sandiaga said on Monday (22/3).
He also plans to create a program to train all airport stakeholders on how to handle the travelers in the airport facility. During his visit to inspect the implementation of prevention protocols at the airport facility on Monday, Sandiaga was impressed by the implementation of the health and safety protocols that were prepared, including providing hand-washing stations, mask-wearing, and physical distancing.
Meanwhile, the General Manager of Ngurah Rai Airport, Herry AY Sikado said that 5,000 airport staff have already been vaccinated on Monday (22/3).
He explained that several countries that could open a travel bubble with Bali such as the Netherlands, South Korea, Singapore, China, and UAE already conducted several assessments of Ngurah Rai airport to assure the safety of their citizens before allowing them to travel to Bali.
“We already prepared a better procedure to receive the international visitors, so each traveler will take an estimated 24 minutes to get out of the airport through a strict implementation of prevention protocols,” Sikado concluded.
